Dr. Gabrielle “Gabe” Schwemmer has served in education for 20 years as a consultant, mentor, coach, elementary teacher, director, and central office administrator. She has received the following degrees: Associate of Arts from SWIC, Bachelor of Science in Education from McKendree University, Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University, and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University, holding her Superintendent, General Administrative, and Highly Qualified Elementary Teaching licenses in Illinois and Missouri. Currently, Dr. Schwemmer serves as Superintendent of Sparta School district in Illinois.

She is the co-author of “Leadership Implications for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning Programs to Close the Achievement Gap and Developing Early Warning Tracking Dashboards.” Dr. Schwemmer received the Phenomenal Woman of Metropolitan St. Louis Award from Racial Harmony and Smithton Citizen of the Year in 2012 and Who’s Who Among Educators in 2009. These awards recognize women making a difference in communities, organizations, and in the lives of children. She is a 4 year Illinois Association of School Boards Master School Board Member and Treasurer of the Smithton School District #130 School Board, Policy and Finance Committee Chairperson, IASB Delegate and Resolutions Chair for the Southwestern Illinois Division, and a nationally certified Ruby Payne “Understanding Poverty” trainer.
